The Village of Key Biscayne was
incorporated on June 18, 1991.
A seven-member Village Council comprised
of a Mayor, Vice Mayor and five Council Members is elected by the people
to govern the Village of Key Biscayne. The Mayor presides at Council
meetings and other functions, and is the ceremonial head of the Village
of Key Biscayne. The Village Council determines policy, and
appoints a Village Manager, Village Clerk and a Village Attorney.
The Mayor serves a two year term. Each
Councilmember serves a four year term. To be eligible to run as a candidate
for office, a person must be a resident of the Village of Key Biscayne
for at least one year prior to the election and be a qualified elector
of the Village.
Village Council meetings are held the second
Tuesday of every month (except August) in the Council Chamber, at Village
Hall, at 7:00 p.m.
