Each of the undersigned (1) resides in or has visited South Florida and in particular the City of Miami, (2) is either a U.S. citizen, or resident, subject to and paying U.S. taxes, (3) is aware of and has seen the area in North Biscayne Bay in Miami known as “Stiltsville” consisting of seven remaining wooden structures located approximately one mile South of the South end of Key Biscayne, Florida, and (4) is aware of the initial decision of Biscayne National Park, the National Park Service and/or the U.S. Department of the Interior to not extend the private leasehold interests for the seven remaining Stiltsville homes beyond current expiration in July, 1999.

Each of the undersigned firmly and strongly believed that each of the seven remaining Stiltsville structures (1) have unique and significance historic value to the Unite States including South Florida, (2) are well-known landmarks and are and have been an important part of Miami’s landscape and lore, (3) and are of exceptional cultural and historic significance,  (4) do not in any meaningful way negatively impact the environment or ecological assets of the North end of Biscayne National Park with any negative impact being far outweighed by good, and (5) do not detract from the character of a pristine and public property, that being the Biscayne National Park.

Each of the undersigned urgently and forcefully requests Biscayne National Park, the National Park Service and the U.S. Department of Interior to renew and extend the private leases for the seven remaining homes. Each of the undersigned has only signed one of these petitions.
