NASSAU STREET

North of the barn, Nassau Street (present-day E. Heather Drive) was lined with coconut trees and a row of white frame cottages built for black Bahamian families who sailed across the Gulf Stream during the first part of the twentieth century to work on the Matheson coconut plantation.  Presently, this is the south boundry of the beautiful Grand Bay Hotel and Villas property.
