key-biscayne.com was the first
dot com created specifically about the Key...
| Back in the days
when dinosaurs ruled the Internet, and long before the rise and subsequent
fall of the 'dot com' era, an 8meg of RAM laptop computer was cranking
out information on Key Biscayne from the back porch of a 1950's Key Biscayne
Mackle house. The concept was simple: Provide as much information
as possible about Key Biscayne.
This is still our objective
to this day. People use the Internet for the same reason people go
to the library or watch television - information, education, and entertainment.
Nowhere could you find a
complete resouce pertaining to Key Biscayne.

As 8 Megs of RAM became
laughable, and modems that started at 9600 became 14.4 then 28.8, then
56k, then ISDN, we were there, searching out the information about Key
Biscayne.
Having grown up here, it
was not too difficult to give a local flavor and perspective to the mix.
We attempted various promotions locally and as we talked to local merchants
about this new thing called the Internet, the idea of relying on selling
webspace as a primary source of income was entirely abandoned. |
Over 60% of our visits are International
with 2% originating from Indonesia.
| Getting sidetracked and
caught up in the 'dot com' frenzy of '99 led us to open satellite offices
in England, Scotland, Paris, and Kiev, Ukraine and after realizing there
are only 24 hours in every day, came back to our roots here on Key Biscayne.
In 2001, a decision was reached to concentrate our efforts back here on
the Key and become and maintain a leadership position on the internet for
information regarding Key Biscayne. |
