Places to Stay on Key Biscayne
Key Biscayne, back in the day, used to have hotels, motels, motor courts (WAY back!), small little efficientcy
apartments, 1 and 2 bedroom condominiums, and waterfront cottages directly on the Atlantic Ocean.
This was also the time that there were more gas stations than there were banks.  People would drive from all
over the country to stay in the Key Biscayne Hotel and Villas or the Sonesta Beach Hotel and Villas for weeks
and sometimes months at a time.  It was a different world, a different Island, a different time.
Today, the Sonesta Beach Hotel is closed and in limbo as the powers that be decide what is going to be donee
on the property, The Silver Sands has rooms but no resturant or facilities, and the Ritz Carlton is, well, The Ritz.
There is one 'boutique' Real Estate Brokerage, Key Life Realty, that put together, under one roof, the best that
Key Biscayne has to offer regarding short term accommodations and has the most extensive selection of
short term accommodations that include everything from 1 bedroom studios that are located in that 5 star, 5 diamond
beach resort, all the way up to condominiums and waterfront homes that are available on a  weekly basis.  It
seems hard to believe that such a magnificent destination location as Key Biscayne does not do more to cater to
tourists.  Over the past 40 years there is consistently less property available for tourists and in a selfish way, it
keeps the beaches, parks, and oceans less crowded and more wide open for enjoyment.
If you are headed to Key Biscayne, you are not alone so make your reservations well in advance or you
will find that the shortage of hotels and short term accommodations went to some other fortunate traveller.
