A non stop parking lot of boats, babes,
and the scent of testostorone and tropical tanning oils mixes with the
fresh breeze steadily blowing off of the Atlantic Ocean. Since all
of this takes place on the leeward side of Elliott Key, there is no danger
of large waves except for those made by boats, and it is the perfect place
to swim in water where you can clearly see the sand and the seagrass and
small patch reefs beneath your boat.

People go through the digital film
around here and one of the favorite activities is to record all of the
madness for journalistic purposes and even go as far as taking pictures
and movies of people taking pictures and movies. The general mood
is one of a very large college party with the battle of the boat stereos
blasting over the water. Normally one boat will have a complete DJ
set-up and rock the surrounding 1/2 mile of boaters.

Come one come all! By your own
private jet, or by helicopter, most show up in boats. Others show
off their new Gulfstream 5 jet. The copter on the right is actually
a company that takes pictures of boats in action. Here is their
link.
If you can imagine the Mardi Gras on the
water, you have the Columbas Day Regatta. We have been covering this
event for years and it gets larger every year.
