Results of Election
Here we are in the final day.  THE DAY that truly makes America great.  We all have our voice... and today, it is heard.  One by one, we live and breathe, one by one we vote.
Today our responsibility is to look at the fundamentals and the principals of each and every candidate and issue before us.
Now is not the time for a change, now is the time for leadership.  We are a strong and resolute people who will rise to the occassion, 'bear any burden', 'pay any price'.
Today is the day to remember our heritage, and our responsibility as the leader of the free world.  We do this as an Island, as a County, as a State, and as a Country.
Here are the pictures of the election action on the Key today.

CHARTER AMENDMENT
Procedure for Election of Mayor and Village Council Members

The Village Charter currently provides for the election of Mayor and Council
Members in November of each even numbered year, and includes runoff
elections.  A Charter Amendment is proposed to eliminate runoffs, establish
a primary election system, and provide for a primary election in October
with a regular election in November for Mayor and Council positions, and to
allow election dates to be further adjusted by Ordinance.

Shall the above described Charter Amendment be adopted?
NO          #217
YES        #216

The Islander News has a system by which the Publisher, her son, the Editor and
two writers for the Islander News sit around in a room and after much discussion
listen to the reccomendations of the Editor and agree with her choices.
Out of the 12 people running for office, we predicted here who the Islander would
choose.  We got 4 of the 6 positions correct of who they would choose.
How predictable are they?
OK, here are OUR choices of who is going to win. We will also post this here
so that it is time stamped for your personal verification of whether we are good
predictors of not so good.
Drum roll please.................. For Mayor.... Bob Oldakowski
The six seats will go to: Annika, Davey, Padovan, Mendia, Weinman, and Thornton.
It is also likely that incumbents Vernon, and Garcia will retain their positions since
the island is so small, but we will stick to our predictions because it is our guess
that most people are pretty sick and tired of this local Government.
Will the Charter Amendment be adopted? Yes, even though it is a dumb idea.
