Bob Oldakowski was elected as Key Biscayne's next Mayor in the November 19th Runoff election over Richard Gregorie.

Dear friends and neighbors,

On November 19th, you will have the opportunity to vote in a run-off election for the next mayor of Key Biscayne.  I am asking that you honor me with your vote.

The history of the Village of Key Biscayne is short, just 11 years since incorporation.  But the list of accomplishments is long and includes the establishment of our own excellent police and fire-rescue services, purchase of the Village Green, completion of the storm water project, planting of trees that line our streets, and an extensive sidewalk system.

During the last four years while I have been on the Council, we completed the beach renourishment project, purchased the Citgo property, built the new fire station and police/administration building, completed the Beach Park, rewrote the zoning codes to better serve our residents, and alleviated the playing fields issue.  All this and more has been accomplished while maintaining the lowest tax rate in the county and remaining below our debt cap.  Each and every one of these items has improved our quality of life.  But we should not stop now.

The next two years requires us to work together to develop better solutions to quality-of-life issues such as traffic congestion, noise, construction disruptions, and the continued shortage of playing fields.  We are all concerned about future development on Virginia Key.  My record is clear.  Just as I worked to successfully stop the Seaquarium expansion, I will work to prevent any development on Virginia Key that could negatively impact our quality of life.  Finally, we must complete the long-awaited Community Center.   I am the only candidate in favor of proceeding without delay or further expense.

Included with this letter are my positions on the important issues of taxes and the Community Center.  As always, I am happy to listen to your views and questions on these and the many other issues of importance to all of us.

The voters of KB have a clear-cut choice to make on November 19th.I offer myself as the best candidate for the job that needs to be done.I have the experience and qualifications to hit the ground running on November 20th.I will devote the time it takes to meet the demands of the job, particularly being readily available and accessible to the residents of our island.

I am asking for your vote on November 19th.

Thank you for your consideration.

Bob Oldakowski
