Bike paths and sidewalks wind through
Key Biscayne and one can literally bike ride or rollerblade in complete
safety from any of the award winning beaches to Brickell Avenue or the
City of Miami (if you were so inclined) and rollerbading up to the top
of the "Miami Mountain" (the William Powell Bridge, one of three bridges
that connects Key Biscayne to the mainland) is not as fun as enjoying the
view from the top of the bridge or rollerblading downhill! The "Miami
Mountain" is used daily for all sorts of aerobic excercise day and night.
This past couple of weeks, the number of people on the beach, on the bike
paths, in the air, on the water only confirmed that of all the places to
be, this is it. The Ritz-Carlton of Key Biscayne, The Sonesta Beach
Hotel, and the Silver Sands have been sold out with waiting lists.
Kathy Dziura of Key Life Realty specializes in vacation condos and home
rentals on Key Biscayne says "Over the past seven years that I have
been renting vacation condos on Key Biscayne, we have never seen a season
as busy as this year. We have many more clients than we do rental
units and many people are changing their vacation times just to get down
here. The annual rental market is saturated with inventory so we
know it is all tourist driven."
For all of us who skipped winter and spring
this year, it has been a whole lot of fun and now the word is out.
