for the beginning of construction.
The Key Biscayne Community center is preparing
to open on October 30,2004 and your
friendly Villagebeing could not be more
proud to see his or her name on the massive
plaque dedicating it to themselves and
their tireless efforts as we will struggle for years
to come to support this "White Elephant".
The largest graffitti canvas on Key Biscayne
will have lots of room in it, that is for sure.
It will have rooms, rooms for rooms, bathrooms,
rooms for showers, rooms for every
single politically correct function ever
thought of.
Plenty of underground parking will be
available for all of us who would like to make an
issurance claim on our vehicle next Hurricane
and tidal surge when the pumps stop
working. Yep. should be great.
Our crack team of photographic documentarians
were there for the entire fiasco, I mean
construction and got pictures of the progress
on nearly a daily basis. One of these days
when we get old and bored around here,
we will put up the daily pictures so that you can
enjoy a building being built. We
sort of like it but not enough to actually take the time to
put it up on the web right now. |

Key Biscayne Community Center Grand opening
will actually be held
between the hours of 12:00 - 5:00 PM on
that Saturday, where we are
all invited by the Village in a flyer
in the Islander News to " Join the Village
of Key Biscayne, your friends and neighbors
as we celebrate the official
Grand Opening of the brand new, state
of the art Community Center with a fun-
filled day of activities for residents
of all ages".
Before we go on, please notice how this
reads... "Join the VKB, your friends
and neighbors"... It IS that the VKB is
DIFFERENT from my friends and
neighbors. It is an entity. A frame
of mind. An insider outsider type deal.
We pay, they play. Make no mistake
about it. Anyhow, the flyer continues...
"Basketball, Golf putting, Open Swim,
Cheerleading by Gablettes, (Now this
next one is CLASSIC) meet and take pictures
with "Sponge Bob Square Pants"
(I'm not making that up!! Is the mayor
setting the dress code or is it the cartoon
character?) Face painting, story telling,
arts and crafts, demonstrations of fitness
equipment, painting and pottery classes,
jewelry making, and massages. Hmm. |
Free food and refreshments (paid for with
our tax dollars) plus...Stiltwalkers
and shows by "New World Connections" and
music by DJ Jaime Myles
and Junkanoos. WHOHOOOO!!!! Sounds
GREAT!
If it was so great people would be knocking
down the doors trying to
get in . Annunal memberships can be purchased
at the palacial offices of The
Parks and Recreation Department or download
a registration form at
www.keybiscayne.fl.gov and then they say,
get this, MAIL payment to them.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA! State of the art.
Man are these people consistent or WHAT!?
Mail it after you download and
print the registration and then fill it out
BY HAND with a PEN. Ever think about
online signup? Naw. Might put
someone out of a job. Sorry, I'm not linking
to it. General principles.
Oh yeah, on top of your taxes, pay $100
per month or $475 for your family to join.
A senior couple is $300 per year, a non
senior couple $350. $275 a year per non
couple single non youth person.
