The Key Biscayne Picture
Tour
South Mashta Island Home
facing Biscayne Bay
A beautiful time of year, a beautiful time
of day, a beautiful home on South Mashta
Island. Mashta Island is located
south of Key Biscayne and is attached to the island
of Key Biscayne by the aptly named Mashta
Bridge. The waterfront homes on the south
side of Mashta view Stiltsville,
Biscayne Bay, Soldier's Key, the Ragged Keys, Boca
Chita,
and on a clear day, it is possible to
see Sands Key and Elliott Key. To the East
is Cape
Florida Lighthouse and to the West is the mainland.
The waterfront homes on the north side
of Mashta Island face Hurricane
Harbor.
This would be a calm view off of the seawall
as the Cape Florida Channel ( the immediate
view of the water in the foreground) is
a high traffic channel for all of the Key Biscayne
Charter
Boats, Pleasure Craft, and Sailboats
laden with provisions for a Bahamas
crossing over the Gulf Stream. Mashta
Island was home to the infamous 'Mashta
House'
which was one of the very first homes
on Key Biscayne when the island was accessible
only by water or seaplane. The view
remains spectacular year round, year in and year out.
