Today was in the low to mid 70's and the past couple of nights have been in the mid 50's. When driving around the island, follow Harbor Drive nearly all of the way to the end. There will be a fountain in the middle of the road with a round about to keep the local traffic flowing well. Heading south at the fountain, you can see the Mashta Island bridge perhaps 100 feet from the fountain. The middle of the bridge is where this picture was taken from. This body of water is named 'Hurricane Harbor' for obvious reasons. It is totally protected directly from the windward side of the Island and the inlet you see on the horizon in the middle of the photograph is the one way in and on way out. This channel leads to the waters of Biscayne Bay which is the leeward side of the Island of Key Biscayne. The buildings that you see on the far horizon are buildings located approximately 7 miles from the vantage point of the photograph and are located on the mainland in Coconut Grove. The multimillion dollar homes are concentrated around Hurricane Harbor are complimented by the multimillion dollar boats docked in the backyard and enjoy some of the most spectacular views on Key Biscayne. Fishing is allowed from the bridge but one must first obtain a permit from the Village to fish from this bridge and there is only off street parking available and it is scarce however with a view like this, it is easy to have your mind wander off to the place that time does not exist.
