Banyan Trees at Crandon Park
The Key Biscayne Picture of the day
Banyan trees at Crandon Park, Key Biscayne, Florida
This massive Banyan Tree is located at the entrance to Crandon Park Beaches on the eastern side of Key Biscayne and was originally planted by W. Matheson and the Banyan trees were originally used to mark the boundaries of the cultivated land.  One Banyan tree per corner.  The trees are exotics and came originally from India and Africa and are known for the size of their trunks.  If these particular trees had ears, they would have heard "What a perfect place for a tree fort!" from generation after generation of Key Biscayne's children and visiting children from all over the world.
