What is wrong with this picture???
Yes, you are correct ladies and gentlemen....What
is wrong with this picture is that there is not enough water under
the boat to float it! The man in
the top picture with the cap on took the 'Man most likely to be ignored
at the dock award" for the day.
A fine example of why it is important
to read signs such as ones that have the letters 'Danger....Shoal Area'
on them.
For all of the non boaters in our audience,
a shoal area would also be, and is most commonly referred to as....a sandbar.
As in, sand. Without the water.
A shoal can be just an extrememly shallow area, but I don't suppose that
it matters
since the sign is only written in English.
As most boaters know, it is also a pretty good idea to look over the side
of
the boat to see if anything is dragging.
Like the propeller. Between the eight people on board, nobody thought
to look up from their
Arroz con Pollo long enough to notice
that they were no longer moving. At high tide. The rest of
the day will be
spent talking about the tides and cycle
of the moon, or at least the next 10 to 11 hours will be. Oh my.
That conversation begins right after the
'blame game' ends and the captain is sufficiently humiliated and is no
longer speaking.
Of course now that the picture is recorded
and archived here at key-biscayne.com, the captain may never hear the end
of it.
BUT...As if that is not enough.... You
guessed it, they had company. Check
out their neighbors for the day by clicking here.
This sandbar is off of the mangroves of
the golf course known as 'West Point' or the 'Yacht Club Sandbar' or the
Sand Bar on the outside of the 'Ski Hole'.
It is an all time favorite for locals and visitors alike.
