Crandon Marina Channel with natural Mangrove Island

Crandon Marina Key Biscayne Florida

One of the channel markers at Crandon Marina, home of the Sunday's on the Bay resturant and ever popular nightclub is also marking the channel for boat captains so as not to run aground on Key Biscayne or the natural mangrove island pictured.  On this partly cloudy (mostly sunny) day, the water depth is clearly visible making navigation that much easier during the day light hours.  It is clear that the water depth quickly changes from 16 - 20 feet deep to mere inches deep at high tide and a fully exposed sandbar during the low tide.  These markers become extremely valuable during the night or during limited visibility situations.  Even something as commonplace as a navigational aid looks beautifully tropical and welcoming.
