KEY BISCAYNE RECREATION - BOATING AROUND STILTSVILLE
Stiltsville is a one of a kind collection of houses on the water where 7 remain intact thanks to
decades of hurricanes. These structures are built on the highest points of the finger channels
that feed the water in and out of Biscayne Bay. This makes for some precarious boating as
if you are not familiar with the area, you will very soon be pushing your boat over six inches of
water next to the lovely couple from Germany that rented a boat doing the same thing. This natural
formation of finger channels makes for some spectacular fishing for Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon,
Snapper, Snook and every other fish that cruise through here to the patch reefs. Very strong
currents at the changes of the tides.
To navigate through the waters that are clearly marked East - West, If coming up from the South, beware!
Stay closer to the mainland than directing your boat towards Key Biscayne. It is very deceptive.
