The green lines to the left of Key Biscayne
would be the way that
you would be travelling if you were coming from North of Key Biscayne either on the windward side of the island or the leeward side of the island. To go to Boca Chita, you would simply continue South keeping the Channel Markers to the port side of your vessel so that you will not find the flats, nor will you hit the very very famous 'featherbed' sandbar. Many boats have waited quite a few hours for the tide to change before being able to get off of featherbead. Featherbed flats are located just south of this informational map. Of course this should in no way be used for Navigational purposes, it only gives you the idea of where Stiltsville is located in relation to Key Biscayne and to the mainland. On top of that, the pink shows the sand flats with the blue running through them and out to the Atlantic Ocean. In the blue area of the map it can be 12 feet deep and the pink areas, 2 inches deep. A very substancial difference. |
