Smoke Billowed up and could be seen for
miles when the front tires of this vehicle burned off and by the time
that our 911 call was answered, we were
told that the fire department was already on the location.
Two young men were seen running down Fernwood
(as if NOT jogging) and someone's car got stuck after
a few 'after school donuts' were being
attempted on top of bone dry sea grape and assorted other leaves and various
flammable material that nature disposes
of on the path between Harbor Drive and Calusa Park.
Apparently when this vehicle became stuck
(should have gotten the 4 wheel drive model), the very hot engine
had all of the right stuff for a very
big fire.
Upon closer inspection, one can clearly
see that there is nothing left of the seats or the dashboard.
No school books or homework assignments
were recovered and no injuries were reported on the scene.
At home, when Mom or Dad hear about
where they can find their car ( unless it was a company vehicle),
and some injuries may have been sustained
by the driver to his rear end.
The local newspaper has reported that
the driver was 'cutting through' calusa park access road (that adjoins
the St.Agnes property and runs parallel
to the 7 - 11 shopping center) when their vehicle became 'bogged down'
in the debris . Hot engine meets dry leaves
and 'poof' we have a fire.
When the smoke started to billow inside
of the car, the driver called 911 to report the incident and was able to
talk his passenger out of the vehicle.
To date the 'donuts' running
up the car have not be explained as part of the problem.
The best news is that there were no injuries
and Key Biscayne Firefighters were there to extinguish the flames
before the fire spread into the mangroves..
The local Government has yet to realize that most residents are tired of
waiting
for the construction traffic on Crandon
that takes place daily so that a 5 minute drive home take 45 minutes.
Though we have all suggested that construction
work on major roads take place on off peak times, this idea makes
way too much sense. Therefore, we
will have teenagers, as seen above, getting creative on getting home on
time.
Forget all of this noise, show me some
