Key Biscayne Parking Picture of the Day - The Oasis
What's wrong with this parking besides the obvious? It was done without a driver.
Timing is everything. Nobody
was hurt. So often NOT the case. The truck WAS here where this picture
is taken from. The driver
kept the truck running and walked accross
the street to the Oasis. All on its own, the truck shifted into Reverse
gear and
came straight accross Harbor Drive and
as it was crushing the fence that was put up just 4 hours ago. The
driver ran
out of the Oasis and jumped into the truck
and jammed the truck into neutral. At that point the truck started
rolling forward.
At most any other time there would have
been cars sitting at the traffic light, however, the traffic had just moved
through at
the same time that the truck went into
Reverse. Some of us were standing in the Oasis watching this truck
back up.
It looked like a food delivery was going
to back up to the front door until the truck hit the fence flattening it
to the ground
and ending up pushing into a brand new
Hummer. The only damage taken by the Hummer was a broken plastic
guard
around the wheel well. The Hummer
is owned by the man who owns the Gas Station and who had the fence put
up on
4 hours prior to it being run into.
Fences just don't last around here.
Seen above is the damaged fence and the
Hummer that was backed into. The picture above right is the driver
of the truck
calling somebody who needed to know about
his running a little bit late.
Any other time cars and people and bikes
and strollers and everything inbetween would have been in the way.
A fantastic miracle that nothing more
than a fence was damaged. Not shown is a SUV that was mere inches
away on
the other side of the truck. As
the crunching of the metal was happening, everyone there expected that
the truck on the
other side was getting mashed as well
as the fence. It was untouched. A miracle that nobody was hurt
and that the damage
was not far greater. It would not
be unusual for a Porsche or a Rolls Royce (or both) to be RIGHT there.
