It is all about the wind. It is all about the sail, it is all about safety, it is all about training, it is all about a great
community of atheletes coming together to compete in the second annual 'Kites For Girls' Competition.
It is so much more than a competition, it is a full day affair that is completely free to the general public, that
involves kite surfing clinics, tips and tricks performed by some of the best kitesurfers in the world, and a complete
study of the various safety factors that will continue to keep the sport of kitesurfing, safe.
Add to all of this perfect weather at one of the top ten beaches in the world, and you have the makings for a fun day.
Kitesurfing weather for the Kite for Girls 2005 event was held on Saturday May 14th at North Beach at Crandon Park.
Last year had an incredible turnout and fun was had by all levels from the person just wanting more information
about the sport all the way to the reigning world champions. There was a repeat of that again this year only with
far more people showing up to learn about the sport, and to watch the girls compete for cash prizes along with
all types of gear donated to the event by the various sponsors and kitesurfing shops.
All ages were welcome, and all ages showed
up. From toddlers to seasoned citizens, it was both a family affair
and a great opportunity to mix and mingle
with others on the sun filled skies over Key Biscayne.
