Right off of the main bridge of the Rickenbacker
Causeway as you are approaching Key Biscayne is Miami Catamarans.
Just like all good sailboat rental spots, it is not real fancy and if you
go by too quickly you might miss it. This is definitely the place
to learn how to sail a catamaran, or if you know how to sail, this is a
great place to rent a boat. |
Miami Catamarans is situated on a stretch
of Virginia Key known as ‘Hobie Beach’. This should give you enough
of a hint that this is a great place to sail.
Area locals get here real early on the
weekends to drop in their boats and spend a relaxing day on the shore.
‘Hobie Beach’ and Miami Catamarans is
located where the water is protected from surf, high waves (or even moderate
chop most of the time), or heavy currents and the wind is just perfect.
As most sailors know, a steady wind and
calm seas is a dream to sail on, and this is the spot. Sailing
on the leeward side of the island will eventually lead you to be able
to see the Cape
Florida Lighthouse on the southernmost point of Key Biscayne. |

Here it is possible to start at the beginning
in a casual environment and develop strong sailing skills. Or, if
you already have such skills and cannot pass up this great spot to sail,
you can select and rent one of the catamarans to enjoy Biscayne Bay.
Experience the perfect sailing conditions
for yourself with Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove, and the City of Miami as
a backdrop. |
